About This Game It's America's #1 reality show for heroes! As a contestant on "The Hero Project," you'll battle villains and heroes alike with your newly discovered "Infini" powers. Will you vote to eliminate your rivals, or betray your alliance to curry favor with the celebrity judges? "Heroes Rise: The Hero Project" is the sequel to last year's hit "Heroes Rise: The Prodigy," the epic interactive novel by Zachary Sergi, where your choices determine how the story proceeds. The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and driven by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. Play as male or female, gay or straight; you can even start a "showmance" with the other contestants. What will you sacrifice to become the nation's next top hero? How high will you rise? I really like the story and universe. It is fantastic and a good read but..... and quoting from the game:Quote:General Tip: In Heroes Rise, you are rewarded for sticking to your ideals. If trying to earn a high Legend Level, make sure to remain consistent once you decide what kind of hero you want to be. Unquote:Which is why I am split in recommending this game. At least it is better than the first story when it comes to balanced choices and those choices really affecting the outcome. Also it seems that some characters have not remained consistent....... The second game of the "Heroes Rise" trilogy. It's essentially the superhero version of Big Brother, and it is sure to make you feel like an a-hole for all the choices you are forced to make.If you liked the first one you definitely going to like this one. Make sure to transfer your save file.. Hero Project has an interesting premise that you are on a superhero "reality show" contest. As such you "vote off" both opponents and friends at various points. I had 2 problems with this part of the story: you get points for sticking true to a "strategy" you choose at the start. However, a lot of the choices are written in a vague manner (I thought) that made it hard to know which fit your "strategy". And this all determines how long you can stay in the show before being "voted off".The second problem I had with the game is the fact that the author seems to be using the story to push the so -called "alternative lifestyle" issue. Granted, he doesn't take away from the main story when he does, but I don't care about that and never will, so I found being preached at in a superhero story about this issue highly irritating. And with each group jockeying for identity in the coalition the acronymn now has so many letters in it it looked like a cat walked across my keyboard. At points the main character was screwed around no matter what you did I wondered if the author is a fan of Marvel Comics, as it reminds me of thier brand of "angst" stories. However, things did work out in the end, mostly. I would recommend if you don't mind the issues I brought up.. Aside from an anvilicious debate towards the middle that felt like it came out of nowhere, this is a strong follow up to The Prodigy. Flush with your successes from the previous game, you take part in a reality tv show to form America's next great Supers Team. Much like Slammed, this game has betrayal, scandal, fame, and public opinion as major themes. The twists towards the latter half were interesting as well. It's also the first and only of the three that I faced a game-over in.. Super cringy storyline and impossibly illogical outcomes on half the missions. The hints to the mystery are all over the place and my girlfriend broke up with my because i wanted to help the good guys.6/10 maker better make up for this in the third part.. This was so painful to read. As a fan of "Choose your own adventure" books... This was just too painful. There is no true depth in the choices you make or the story. There were a lot of "OH by the way this happened because of a random person whom hasnt had a proper introduction to the story decided to mess up your day," "oh and this person just so happens to be an arch nemesis, oh this one too, man people really dont like you". This game is even better then the last. If you are new to Heroes Rise, this story give you enough insentive to buy the first one and read form there. Truely this game is amazing. The mystery in the game left me takeing notes of all the little details so i wouldnt miss anything as i played. as well as checking on my stats at the choices, just so i wont screw up. a definate 9/10. I recommend you buy the trilogy. as this game will make you want to live through it all!. Great story. Surprisingly compelling and enjoyable for such a simplistic concept. There are a few minor gripes I have here or there regarding the outcome of the game, but all in all it was a fun story to play through and simple without losing the actual game aspect of an Interactive Fiction Game. Basically, if you enjoyed the Lone Wolf or Fighting Fantasy series despite the frequent nonsensical deaths rather than because of them, this is a game you'll like. Good value for the money.
